CARLA MORRISON

Since her solo debut on the indie music scene with her first EP, Aprendiendo a Aprender (2009), Tecate native Carla Morrison has been recognized as one of the most gifted singer-songwriters in Latin music. The uniqueness of her ethereal vocals paired with her emotive and raw lyricism has amassed a devout international fanbase that has helped her build a markedly successful independent music career. Her transcendental songs including the viral sensation “Disfruto,” “Todo Pasa,” and “Compartir” convey themes of love, loss, heartbreak and perseverance, resulting in a listening experience that fans describe as “healing” and nothing less than “therapeutic.”

Morrison has long been outspoken on social issues such as animal rights, LGBTQ+ rights and most notably, advocacy for mental health. She’s publicly shared her experiences with anxiety, depression and burnout, conversations that have resonated deeply with her audience. In 2024, she launched Mensajes de Voz, a YouTube series created to help fans navigate their own personal challenges. 

Morrison has released four EPs and three full-length studio albums, earning numerous accolades including 10 Latin Grammy nominations as well as three Latin Grammy awards for “Best Alternative Music Album” (2012) for Dejénme Llorar, “Best Alternative Song” (2012) for “Dejénme Llorar” and “Best Alternative Song” (2016) for “Vez Primera.” She’s collaborated with other influential artists including the likes of Juan Gabriel, Natalia Lafourcade, Enrique Bunbury, J Balvin, Ricky Martin and Karol G, further cementing her place as a vital and enduring voice in contemporary Latin music.
